From G&L’s website:

Dave McLaren recalls, “This prototype was built to test a formula for our Vintage Natural finish. The idea was to get that slightly golden hue that a decades old Natural Ash guitar has. Our veteran painter Malcolm nailed it, so we decided to send this guitar out for photos and begin offering Vintage Natural. This guitar is shown on the ASAT Classic Bluesboy model page as well as on the Vintage Natural finishes page.”

From G&L’s website:

Dave McLaren recalls, “This guitar was made to evaluate the pairing of a G&L P-90 we had developed for the ASAT Junior II with the ASAT Classic MFD bridge pickup. Years before, we had a model called ASAT Classic Custom with a specially made jumbo MFD (SC-2/ASAT Special) neck pickup, but that model had been discontinued. That general concept still appealed to us, and since we had our own P-90 by this time, it was natural for us to give it a shot. We loved it, and in the months following we decided to name the new model ASAT Classic Bluesboy 90. This prototype was built using the old part number for the ASAT Classic Custom, the closest model in our computer system. Someday an owner will look in the pickup cavity, find the production tag, and wonder why it refers to an ASAT Classic Custom. This is the reason.”

Come into the shop to try them both out!! The tone through the new Supro amps is unbelievable a perfect pairing.
