It is the little things

It is the little things in life that make the biggest difference. I am sure that you have all heard this before but it really is true, especially when it comes to the music we play. We have all struggled with one phrase, one lick, one stupid chord but when we get it we feel like we won the lottery and we sound (or at least think we sound) a million times better. But, how do you get over that frustration??

Dave suggests walking away, unscrambling your brain and then coming back to it. I do the same thing but I try everything three times each time I come back to it. I will try three times, then go change the laundry/unload the dishwasher/walk Pappy and then come back and try three more times. I complete tasks between my attempts so that I feel accomplishment and not just frustration. I am sure that you could easily play songs you know between your three (or five or whatever number works for you) tries so that you reset your brain so to speak. I also find that if I do little things like have my flowers by my desk or my collection of World of Warcraft stuffed animals on my piano I can take a break when I am only a little frustrated and focus on the happy and feel better about everything.

So, what are the little things you do to break through your wall of frustration??

Dave also wants to remind everyone that even the best players still get stuck from time to time so just keep at it and eventually you will get it!

Flowers help ease my frustration, what helps with yours?
